Sarah Overington
Director, Discovery Research and Recognition, NSERC

Dr. Sarah Overington is the Director of the Discovery Research and Recognition Division of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). In this capacity, she leads a team responsible for managing grant programs that support research, training, and recognition through prizes. Over the past decade at NSERC, Sarah has worked across multiple disciplines and programs, consistently prioritizing the integration of equity, diversity and inclusion in both program design and implementation. Sarah holds a B Sc. (Hons) and PhD in Biology from McGill University.

Denis Dumas, P. Eng.
President and technology advisor in industrial and software, Technofinance

Denis Dumas has over 25 years of business experience and specializes in assistance programs such as SR&ED, IRAP, and E-Business. He is passionate about technology and his professional commitment is to assist our clients in financing their technology innovation projects using the different grants and tax credit programs, partnerships and alternative financing strategies.

Tim Warland P.Eng
Business Advisor, Mitacs

Mr. Warland’s career in optical communications began at Nortel where he was responsible for sales, marketing and supporting Nortel’s semiconductor and optical products. Tim spent over twenty years in the optical communications industry including scaling start-ups, SMEs and multi-nationals. During this time he made significant contributions to optical specification with IEEE and OIF. He was awarded for Invaluable Contributions to the 10G Ethernet Standard by the Ethernet Alliance and generated over $300M lifetime revenue. Tim is a Senior Business Advisor with Mitacs where he is responsible for industry engagement. He has a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Carleton University and an MBA from the University of Ottawa. He has over a dozen publications and has been awarded the Commendation for Excellence in Technical Communication from Pennwell publishing. Tim is a registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
